Welcome to the Aging Well Consortium!
We all age differently -- yet none of us is born knowing how to put the pieces together to do it right. We need experts to guide us. Our website, Aging Well Consortium, brings together professionals, aging experts and plain ordinary citizens from a broad range of disciplines and experiences to share their ideas.
Here you’ll find:
- Information about our services, including consultations on how to tackle some of the tough issues you might be facing with an older person
- Our free quarterly newsletter, Aging Deliberately, and blogs that offer a changing array of practical articles, tips and interesting news about aging
- A calendar of my speeches, workshops and other notable events
- Our company store where you will find my e-books and CDs.
I’ve worked in the aging field for 35+ years – first, as director of a nationwide nursing home investigation, then as a 14-year columnist on aging in The Seattle Times, and now as a journalist, family consultant, consumer educator, speaker and advocate on behalf of wise aging. Over the years the topic has become intensely personal – I cared for my parents for eight years and am growing older myself.
Aging well requires us to prepare for it and plan – so that we can choose what we want and have some control over what happens.
You’ll find our site information-rich and easy to navigate, filled with clear, concise tools for moving forward into middle age and beyond-- for your aging parents, friends and family -- and yourself.
Aging is a natural part of living, the consequence of being born. And now, so many more of us are doing it than at any time in history, our aging is permanently transforming America’s demographics. It’s time to get ready for this new and unprecedented period of human longevity.
Please visit us often to learn from and participate in this evolving conversation.
