WRITERS CIRCLE SUBMISSIONS

Getting older is a natural part of living that our society has ignored or covered up for too long. If you have personal experiences with your aging or that of someone you care about and would like to express them, let us know. We’re always looking for fresh ideas – the good and the bad -- but stated in a new way without saccharin, smiley faces or violins.  There are many possible topics, from concepts about death and dying to new technology to help us age, housing designs and neighborhoods for an older population, a novel idea on how to meet an older or impaired person’s needs – lots and lots of different attitudes and paths worth thinking about. We invite you to put them in writing to share with others.

Inquiries
  • Please discuss or email Liz with your ideas about a Guest Column for our website or newsletter before you send it.
  • If you have a time-sensitive reason for writing, such as publicizing a workshop or event you’re planning, be sure to let us know up front
Submissions
  • 350-700 word limit.
  • Please send it as a Word document, double-spaced, in Ariel font.
  • If we publish your article, provide a recent photo of you if you can, plus a short bio (5-7 sentences). Tell where you live (city and state). You may include an email address and website for readers to contact you in your bio.
  • You will own your article’s copyright; we won’t.
  • You are responsible for ensuring its accuracy.
  • We have the right to edit for clarity and brevity; if we make changes, we will try to show them to you for your final approval before we publish.
  • We won’t publish a column that sounds like an advertisement.
  • If you’ve published a book, you can give details (title, date, etc.).
  • Unfortunately, we cannot pay you for your work.
  • Absolutely do not use the word “senior” in your article unless it’s part of someone’s title or the person is in the last year of high school or college.
